This museum-quality wall art print is a faithful reproduction of the oval-shaped tondo portrait of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, created in Lucknow, Awadh, circa 1810–1820, and preserved today in the Toor Collection of Davinder Singh Toor.

The painting captures Maharaja Ranjit Singh in his prime, before his beard turned grey. Despite having only one good eye and bearing the marks of smallpox, the Lion of Punjab is depicted with regal dignity and youthful strength. Artists of the period often created such imagined likenesses to honour rulers, and this work reflects the grandeur and authority of a king whose conquests brought Multan, Kashmir, and Peshawar under Sikh rule.

Likely commissioned by a European associated with the Awadh court, this portrait formed part of a larger series depicting North Indian rulers. It has been celebrated in exhibitions such as Ranjit Singh: Sikh, Warrior, King (Wallace Collection, London, 2024), where it was praised for its rare glimpse into the early image-making of a leader revered for his courage and vision.

Perfect for lovers of Sikh history, collectors of regal portraits, or those seeking to honour Punjabi heritage, this artwork brings both cultural pride and timeless beauty into your home.
